Tailors sewing Russian flags in Kano arrested – DSS

The Department of State Services (DSS) has reported the arrest of several tailors in Kano State for making Russian flags intended for #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests. DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya announced on Monday that an investigation is underway, and those behind the tailors will soon be apprehended.

Afunanya also clarified that Adaramoye Michael, also known as Michael Lenin, the National Coordinator of the Youth Rights Campaign, is not in DSS custody, despite some confusion. The DSS confirmed that Michael Lenin was not among those arrested.

Earlier, the police had also detained the supplier of the Russian flags and 30 protesters. This follows a nationwide protest that started on August 1, sparked by widespread hardship in Nigeria. Some demonstrators in northern states were seen waving Russian flags and chanting pro-Russian slogans. The Russian Embassy in Nigeria has stated that it is not involved in or coordinating these protests, attributing the use of Russian symbols to personal choice rather than any official policy.
