The Nigerian House of Representatives has opened an investigation into bribery allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS). This follows claims by a social media figure, VeryDarkMan, that EFCC officials dropped charges against popular crossdresser Bobrisky after receiving a ₦15 million bribe.
The motion, raised by Rep. Patrick Umoh, highlights concerns about Nigeria’s global image as a corrupt nation. The case is being examined by the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions, with a report expected within three weeks.
The inquiry is seen as a significant step towards maintaining transparency and restoring public confidence in the country’s key law enforcement bodies, especially in high-profile cases like this one.
