The Lagos State Police Command announced that no one is currently detained for participating in the ongoing protest against hardship in the state. According to the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, all protesters arrested on Thursday were released the same day, following an order by the Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade.
Protest leader Inibehe Effiong confirmed that all 12 arrested protesters had been released and praised the police for their professional conduct during the protests.
On Friday, #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters gathered at Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota for the second day. The Commissioner of Police attended the protest to oversee security and ensure it remained peaceful, even providing water and snacks for the demonstrators. The protesters paused their activities to observe Jumat prayers at the park.
