Nigerian singer Oxlade recently opened up about a dramatic chapter in his life—his decision to drop out of university and run away due to threats from cultists. In a candid interview on September 18, 2024, he explained that the pressure to join gangs made his final year unbearable.
“I left university because it was a crazy time. Being a good-looking guy put me in danger. I had gangs after me, and it felt like I had to either join them or risk my life,” Oxlade shared.
Reflecting on his time at Lagos State University (LASU), he emphasized that the environment was volatile. Although he appreciates the school’s current focus on academics, he recalled, “Back then, it was a chaotic period. Now it seems everyone is more focused on making money.”
