The Lagos State Police, through their spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin, provided an update on a rape case involving a 14-year-old girl in the Alakuko area. The victim was allegedly assaulted by her landlord’s son. However, the investigation has hit a major roadblock as the victim’s mother and others involved are not cooperating with the police.
Hundeyin, via a social media post, explained that the police located the house with the help of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team. However, neither the landlord, the suspect, nor the victim’s family was found at the house. When the police reached out to the victim’s mother by phone, she refused to cooperate.
The police spokesperson expressed frustration, noting that the local community has also refused to assist the police in their investigation. The case was initially brought to light by an anonymous social media user who shared videos of the victim and reported the incident.
Although the case faced initial verification challenges, SP Hundeyin assured the public that the investigation is still ongoing despite the lack of cooperation from the key parties.
