Kidnapped Zamfara Students and Staff Finally Released

Students and staff from Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State have been released after seven months in captivity. They were kidnapped by bandits during an attack in February.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed their freedom through a report on social media, noting that security forces played a key role in their release. While the details of how they were freed are unclear, it has been reported that all the victims returned in good health.

The news brings relief to their families and the university community, who have been anxiously waiting for their safe return.

In September 2023, a significant number of students were taken from their off-campus residences, mostly females, during a bandit attack in the area around 4:00 am.
