A drunk driver knocked down two pedestrians near Mayfair Garden in Epe, Lagos State, on Saturday, causing severe injuries. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials promptly rescued the victims after the incident. The accident, which occurred around 6:30 a.m., involved a Toyota Camry and a commercial LT bus.
According to Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, the driver of the Toyota Camry lost control while intoxicated, hitting the pedestrians as they crossed the Lekki-Epe Expressway. The vehicle then crashed into a commercial bus that was dropping off passengers nearby. Both injured pedestrians were taken to Akodo General Hospital for treatment.
The LASTMA team arrested the Toyota Camry driver and two other occupants, handing them over to the police. Giwa expressed his sympathies to the victims and reminded motorists of the critical importance of road safety, urging everyone to avoid driving under the influence.
