Chidimma Adetshina, representing Taraba State, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. The 23-year-old beauty queen won the title at the grand finale held at Eko Hotel and Suites, defeating 24 other contestants. Adetshina, who recently withdrew from the Miss South Africa pageant due to a controversy over her Nigerian heritage, became a fan favorite, receiving the highest number of votes.
As Miss Universe Nigeria, Adetshina will represent the country at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico later this year, succeeding last year’s winner, Mitchell Ikachukwu. In addition to her victory, Miss Anambra was named the first runner-up, also known as Miss Supranational, while Miss Ondo secured the second runner-up title, Miss Lush. Special awards were also presented, with Miss Oyo winning Top Model, Miss Imo receiving Best Costume, and Miss Abuja earning Best Talent.
The top 10 contestants featured representatives from Kwara, Edo, Ogun, Plateau, Lagos, Ekiti, Rivers, Taraba, Anambra, and Ondo states, with the final five being Taraba, Rivers, Edo, Ondo, and Anambra. Adetshina’s journey to the crown was marked by her resilience, especially after her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant following xenophobic attacks and accusations against her family. She will now carry the legacy of Nigerian beauty and excellence to the global stage.
