75 years ago, in August 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Amid the devastation left in its wake, this poignant photograph was taken. Barefoot and empty-handed, a young boy had come to a cremation pit. Strapped to his back was his lifeless brother. The boy’s stoic expression, masking an ocean of grief, captured the unimaginable sorrow and resilience of those who survived. This haunting image, a testament to the love and heartbreak of that moment, continues to remind us of the profound human cost of war.
