A boat carrying 10 passengers capsized on Saturday in the Zindiwa River, Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The boat was being used as an alternative mode of transportation after flooding blocked the main road.
While seven passengers were rescued by a nearby village’s rescue team, three others are still missing. The cause of the accident is not yet known, but some believe overloading might have been a factor.
This incident is the latest in a series of boat accidents in Bauchi State, with similar tragedies occurring in 2020 and 2022. Rescue operations are ongoing as efforts continue to find the missing passengers.
