A meeting between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has begun in Abuja. The talks follow ASUU’s recent threat to go on strike due to the government’s failure to meet its demands.
Last Friday, the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, mentioned that the government would meet with ASUU representatives on Monday. However, the meeting didn’t happen as planned.
The current meeting aims to prevent another nationwide strike in public universities. ASUU’s delegation is led by its president, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, while the Education Minister and other top officials are also in attendance.
