Asake explains why his Wizkid track leads album.

Asake recently revealed why he placed his collaboration with Wizkid as the first track on his upcoming third album, Lungu Boy. On August 6, 2024, Asake unveiled the album’s tracklist, which features notable artists including Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla.

Initially, Asake had prepared $500,000 to pay Wizkid for a verse, but Wizkid surprised him by declining the payment. Instead, Wizkid offered to collaborate for free, expressing his admiration for Asake’s work and his support for the Afrobeats movement.

Moved by Wizkid’s gesture and the advice he received during their studio session, Asake decided to make their track, “MMS,” the album’s opening song. He wanted to honor Wizkid’s support and their successful collaboration by giving it a prominent place on the album.
