Army to Investigate 18-Year-Old’s Death in Zaria

The Nigerian Army has announced an investigation into the death of 18-year-old Isma’il Muhammad, who was allegedly shot by a soldier on patrol in Samaru, Zaria. Maj.-Gen. MLD Saraso, the General Officer Commanding the 1 Division, Nigerian Army, visited the grieving family on Tuesday and assured a thorough inquiry into the incident.

During his visit, Saraso expressed condolences to the family and the community, urging them to maintain peace and cooperate with the investigation. He invited anyone with relevant information to come forward.

According to the deceased’s mother, Zainab Sani, the shooting occurred around 9 a.m. at their home on Sarkin Pawa Street. She claimed that Isma’il was shot by a soldier after the family tried to close their gate to avoid the approaching patrol. Isma’il had recently completed his secondary school exams and was preparing for further education.
