Team Nigeria Disqualified from Men’s 4x400m Final

The Nigerian men’s 4x400m relay team, which had secured 2nd place in their semifinal heat with a season’s best time of 2:59.81, has been disqualified from the Olympic final. The disqualification was due to a lane infringement, a decision made by the referee. This unfortunate turn of events means that Nigeria will not compete in the final race.

As a result of Nigeria’s disqualification, the South African men’s 4x400m relay team has been granted a spot in the final. The inclusion of South Africa’s team comes as a direct consequence of Nigeria’s lane infringement, impacting their chances of contending for medals in the competition
