Chidinma Ojukwu’s Murder Trial Set to Resume October 15

The trial of Chidinma Ojukwu, accused of murdering Super TV CEO Michael Usifo Ataga, will resume on October 15, 2024, at a Lagos High Court. Ojukwu, a 300-level Mass Communication student at the University of Lagos, is being tried alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, and another individual, Adedapo Quadri. They were first arraigned on October 12, 2021, and face charges including conspiracy, murder, and theft.

In earlier proceedings, a forensic expert testified that the DNA found on a red dress belonging to Chidinma matched that of the victim, Ataga. The expert, Dr. Richard Somiari, explained that several items, including the red dress, were analyzed as part of the investigation. Despite this, questions arose during cross-examination regarding the thoroughness of the testing, including whether certain blood samples from the crime scene were examined.
