AAU Denies Owing Staff, Claims Salaries Fully Paid

Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Asomwan Adagbonyin, described the allegations as misleading and aimed at stirring false sentiments. He stated that 1,710 staff members, including academic and non-academic staff, as well as 634 pensioners, received their August salaries, dismissing the claims as baseless.

Prof. Adagbonyin emphasized that no staff member is owed 32 months’ salary, noting that the university’s academic staff participated in the national 8-month strike, during which the no-work-no-pay rule was enforced. He clarified that those who are not on the university’s payroll, particularly individuals who failed to complete their biometric verification or have disciplinary issues, cannot be considered staff.

AAU remains committed to paying salaries on time, with a “Pay Day” system ensuring payments are made by the 27th of every month. Prof. Adagbonyin also urged staff to comply with the biometric verification process, warning that the university will not be intimidated by unfounded claims.
